French in lieu of Mandarin in Singapore (MOE)
We are the only language centre in Singapore offering the French in lieu of Mandarin (MOE) program.
Our FRENCH IN LIEU OF MANDARIN program is meant for school students (mainly expatriate children living in Singapore) who have been exempted from the Singapore Mother Tongue Policy.
The Mother Tongue Policy requires all students studying in a local Singapore school to take one of the mother tongue languages such as Mandarin, Malay or Tamil.
CURRENT STUDENTS enrolled in our FRENCH IN LIEU OF MANDARIN (MOE Singapore) program includes:
(a) Singaporean children who have lived overseas, cannot converse in Mandarin and use English at home.
(b) Expatriate children (from The Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Europe, etc) who finds it easier learning a language closer to English
OUR FRENCH IN LIEU OF MANDARIN (MOE SINGAPORE) PROGRAM
1. We mirror the local Singapore school system such that we follow the same schedule (School terms, School holidays, etc)
2. We have structured the course in slots of 10 lessons each. Each slot of 10 lessons costs $400. This is paid at the beginning of each Slot.
3. This program is run on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays. Students can chose either Saturday or Sunday.
4. This is a continuous program that the students can follow from P1 to P6. Students progress from one level to the next higher level.
5. At the end of each term, students are given a Small Test and a Progress Report that they can submit to the school.
6. Students are also awarded a Certificate of Attendance at the end of each course.
TO REGISTER FOR THE FRENCH IN LIEU OF MANDARIN (MOE SINGAPORE) PROGRAM
(a) Email us: frenchfaster@hotmail.com
(b) Attach a scanned copy of your Letter of Exemption from MOE
(c) Once you have filled in the necessary forms and made payment, we will issue you a Letter of Registration and inform you of the class dates and times.
(d) You can show this Letter of Registration to your child's school.
French in Lieu of Mandarin Program for Primary School Students
- The class starts in Jan 2010 and runs parallel to the normal school curriculum.
- Students are grouped according to Age Groups (6-8 & 9-12)
- Lessons are delivered on Saturdays & Sundays, and weekday evenings.
MOTHER AND CHILD CAN ATTEND
- Both mother and child can attend this program, and you pay for only ONE student.
- We started this mother-and-child program due to popular request from parents.
- The mother can supervise the child's progress and learn French as well, for free!

OUR EXPERIENCE WITH FRENCH IN LIEU OF MANDARIN PROGRAM
- We have delivered French in lieu of Mandarin programs for the past 2 years.
- We are experienced in this field and your child is in safe hands.
- We know what is required by the MOE. We can give you Course Registration Letter & Progress Reports each Term, as requested by the MOE.
IT'S AN ONLINE PROGRAM
- The program is delivered online.
- We are an online French language school. We don’t have an office space.
- So you need to have a PC, an internet connection and a webcam to take this lesson.
- The lesson is delivered online via skype - using text, audio and video chat.
- Skype is easy to install and use.
- You can download SKYPE for free into your PC: www.skype.com/download
- We can assist you to install skype if you need any technical assistance.
IT'S A SERIOUS INSTRUCTOR-LED COURSE
- Just like a traditional course, your online course has an instructor.
- You still receive face-to-face instruction from a real teacher.
- The instructor conducts the class, leads discussions and answers questions.
- The instructor also gives assignments and assigns grades.
- All instructors are qualified, experienced, and familiar with
- All instructors can provide clear explanation in English.
YOU & YOUR CHILD CAN INTERACT WITH OTHER STUDENTS IN THE CLASS
- Enrolment for each class is limited to 4 students (and 4 parents)
- Your child can interact with other classmates during the lesson.

- The course is offered very cheap; we don’t have office rental costs to pass to you.
THE COST: S$100/month (4 x 1h lesson)
- Lessons are delivered once a week, 4 times per month.
- If you miss classes, make-up lessons are available at a small charge.
- Registration is FREE of charge.
- If you have 2 children attending (same age group), you only pay S$200/month.
FREE LEARNING MATERIALS
- We provide all learning materials for FREE.
- These are sent to you (in email attachments) a few days before each lesson.
- You will need to download the files and print them out for use during the lesson.
FREE TRIAL LESSON
- If you are curious to give this a try, you can take our free 30-min trial lesson.
- This is delivered as private lesson with the teacher online.
- Trial lessons will only start in December 2009.
- If you'd like to book a free trial lesson, inform us 1 week in advance.
- The regular lessons will only start mid Jan 2010
